Jayson Kerr was born in Springfield, Massachusetts into a very loving, very caring and very LOUD Jamaican family!  He was practically born for the stage, my stage voice training began at the dinner table.

Being a LatchKey Child he was also raised by the television where he would watch endless hours of reruns of The Carol Burnett show, and The Golden Girls. Not realizing these were master classes for comedy. But he fell in love with Musical Theater one fateful afternoon when he stumbled onto a taped Broadway show on HBO called “Ain’t Misbehavin’.” Never having seen black performers sing music that he loved that was not gospel or church music, he felt there might be a place for him on the stage somewhere!

Jayson graduated high school and studied Vocal Performance, then moved to NYC where he enrolled in Circle in the Square Theatre School. After graduating he did a lot of concerts, and readings and regional theater until he booked his first national tour as a replacement on the Evita National Tour, then National Tour of Jesus Christ Superstar with Ted Neeley.  and then entering the topsy turvy world of Dr. Seuss in How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Jayson continues to work in many venues around the city and the country, and most often can seen at The Metropolitan Opera House or a various open mics around the city.
